The internet has been hailed as a place for different voices from around the world to thrive, but questions around platform content policies, hate speech, and censorship have challenged how equitable and accessible  some online spaces are. However, activists, technologists, platforms operators, and others are finding new ways to put the power back in the hands of the users. This session will explore different compelling examples of user empowerment through technology, including censorship circumvention, fighting harassment, combatting misinformation, and more.
