Will the internet of the future be one that empowers individuals and provides greater access to information, or will censorship and the siloing of ideas become more prevalent? How can we work together to shape a digital future where speech and democracy flourish? The choices we make around what technologies to deploy and what policies to advance will be key to answering that.

So how exactly are different technologies shaping the ways we share ideas and express ourselves online? Join us for the day-long Future of Speech Online, an engaging summit that will explore the technology of online speech, including discussions on censorship and circumvention, user empowerment, and automation in content moderation.

The third annual Future of Speech Online will take place on Friday, November 15, 2019, at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. It’s hosted by the Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) in partnership with the Charles Koch Institute and Freedom Forum Institute .
