Mary McCord is a Visiting Professor of Law and Senior Litigator at the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection at Georgetown University Law Center. McCord successfully led a lawsuit that resulted in over 20 individuals and organizations that planned and participated in the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville being permanently barred from returning to the city and engaging in unlawful paramilitary activity during protests and demonstrations. McCord was the Acting Assistant Attorney General for National Security at the U.S. Department of Justice from 2016 to 2017 and Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the National Security Division from 2014 to 2016. Previously, McCord was a prosecutor for nearly twenty years at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, including as Chief of the Criminal Division.
