Liz Porter-Merrill is a senior deputy public defender in the Appellate Division of the Colorado Public Defender’s Office. She works to protect the Constitution and ensure her indigent clients receive fair process in the criminal justice system.

Ms. Proter-Merrill received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and graduated from Colorado Law where she became interested in restorative justice as a way to improve our justice system and to help victims, offenders, and society heal. In 2015, Ms. Porter-Merrill was appointed to the Colorado Restorative Justice Council, a legislatively created organization devoted to advancing restorative justice throughout Colorado.
